Our main premises are in the staircase Urho Kekkosen katu 4–6 D where you have a free Wi-Fi, living room, dancefloor, pool table and sauna, for example. The house is meant for members' leisurely hang-out and, therefore, open for them every day from 9 am to 11 pm (during the semesters).
If you wish to hang out there outside our parties and other organized events (and access the house outside the office hours), you can get a magnetic key from the Director (toiminnanohjaaja) by paying €12 deposit which you get back when you return the key at the end of your studies. Our student cafeteria is also located through entrance D. Through entrance A, Hämäläis-Osakunta has a library with course literature, Wi-Fi, computer facilities and reading halls. Another good reason to join us are the student parties, absolutely the best in Helsinki – for members, the entrance fee is discounted.
If you are studying in Helsinki longer than a year, the best way to get to know people (and learn even more Finnish) is attending our meetings and volunteering at various kinds of tasks – from selling tickets at the parties to organising all kinds of free-time events. Most of our activities are organised by our officers in the 7 committees (valiokunnat) and nearly 20 clubs (kerhot). Members can run for offices at general assemblies (osakunnan kokoukset) and meetings of the clubs (kerhojen kokoukset). Also, our officers:
- Are also entitled to a cheaper lunch at our student cafeteria (2nd floor)
- Can have fun at officers’ own events and parties
- Can get into Hämis parties for free with one student friend
You also get the best of your student life – not to mention how good it looks on your CV to have been part of a 1000-member student organisation.
As a final great advantage, Häme student nation members can also apply for affordable student apartments. Apartments are provided by the Häme Student Foundation (Hämäläisten ylioppilassäätiö).
